About the model

The Smith D-Incite 44 / 53 is an ultra-thin, flat-sided, heavy sinking minnow for technical fishing in small to medium-sized rivers. The series is designed for short, precise presentations where the lure must work clearly without moving too far out of the zone.

The D-Incite differs from more classic minnows with a flatter and thinner body that provides powerful roll, distinct flash, and sharp side-to-side movements when twitched. This makes the model particularly effective when fish are close to rocks, eddies, small current edges, or short pockets in fast water.

Choose the 44 mm when you need a more compact and precise presentation in small zones, low water levels, or clear water. Choose the 53 mm when you want a bit more casting distance, deeper working depth, and a more noticeable presence in the current.

KEY DATA Technical Specifications

The D-Incite 44 / 53 is built for precise control in shorter river sections. Its ultra-thin, flat-sided body provides powerful roll and flash, while the fixed tungsten weight ensures rapid descent, stable balance, and good contact during active retrieval.

WALK AND RESPONSE This is how it works in the water

The D-Incite 44 / 53 is designed to trigger fish with its roll and flash rather than large side-to-side movements. Its thin, flat-sided body twists quickly in the water, creating a clear light reflection, even when the lure only moves a short distance.

With a steady retrieve, the D-Incite achieves a vibrating and controlled action, making it effective even without aggressive rod work. This is useful in small rivers and short stretches of current where you often only have a few meters of effective fishing zone.

With a twitch, the lure gets a sharp inertial side-action with a large roll angle. The movement is distinct but compact. This means the D-Incite can appeal for a long time in the same area without shooting too far out of its position.

The 53 mm offers a bit more weight, range, and water contact, while the 44 mm is more precise and discreet. Both models retain the same fundamental characteristics: quick response, clear flash, and controlled movement in small zones.

D-Incite 44 / 53 combines an ultra-thin flat-side body, powerful roll, fast sinking speed, and short darting distance – ideal when fish are close to structure and the lure needs to work effectively in a small area.

USE IN FIELD When and where it fits best

The D-Incite 44 / 53 is best suited for small and medium-sized rivers, rapids, rocky channels, short current edges, pools, and areas where fish are close to structure. This model is particularly effective when you have little time to present the lure before it leaves the strike zone.

Fish it with short casts, good line contact, and precise rod action. Let the lure sink briefly, and work it back with small twitches, harder single jerks, short pauses, and controlled retrieves. In fast water, small movements are often sufficient, while calmer areas can handle slightly more pronounced twitches.

Choose the D-Incite 44 when the fish are wary, the water is clear, or the holding spots are small and technical. Choose the D-Incite 53 when you need more casting distance, more visibility, and a slightly deeper working depth without going up to 64 mm.

In larger rivers, deep main currents, or when fishing for bigger fish at a longer distance, the D-Incite 64 will be a stronger choice. But for precise fishing in short, structure-rich zones, the 44 / 53 are the most technical models in the D-Incite series.

Background and Development The Story Behind the Series

The D-Incite series was developed as an ultra-thin flat-side heavy sinking minnow with a large roll angle and strong inertial side-action. Instead of moving far to the side, the lure is designed to work intensely within a short zone.

The D-Incite 53 is the central model in this part of the series, while the D-Incite 44 is the more compact downsizing version. The 44 retains the main characteristics of the 53, but offers a smaller silhouette and an even more precise presentation in small holding spots.

The combination of fixed tungsten weight, a thin body, and an effective lip construction creates a wobbler that both sinks quickly and maintains good water grip. This makes the series relevant from upstream fishing to downstream drift, in everything from small spots to more challenging current edges.

D-Incite 44 / 53 are Smith's compact flat-side models for technical river fishing – designed for roll, flash, and precise control when the lure needs to trigger fish at short distances.
